We launched a new e-commerce website for The Working Actors' Studio with Jim Gleason this week. This site includes some really nice features like the full-screen video homepage, e-commerce class registration and verified student reviews. It's also fully responsive and uses a content management system for easy updates.
This website was built using Wordpress as the framework and content management system. We added WooCommerce to handle the E-commerce portion of the website since it integrates seamlessly into Wordpress. Through these 2 frameworks, the site owner can modify most content on the website themselves, including updates to all pages and easy management of their e-commerce store.
We added a deposits plugin to allow customers to make a deposit and pay the remaining balance at a later date by logging into their account. The store auto-generates an email which is sent to the customer with a link to complete their purchase. After the entire purchase is finished, the customer has the ability to login and leave a review for the class.
Since this is an e-commerce website, we added some extra security features such as an SSL encryption security certificate and several carefully programmed security plugins. This helps to ensure that customers' data is kept securely and private. It's also recommended by Google that all websites implement SSL certificates as of 2017.
A few other key features worth noting are the video homepage which uses the Youtube API to display and control videos, custom calendar / class schedule, shopping cart with Paypal integration, Captcha contact forms, a custom news blog, Google Analytics, a variety of Wordpress plugins and SEO work. Check out the website on any device including desktops, laptops, iPads, iPhones and Android devices to see how responsive e-commerce website design works.
